Title: Open log-files with win32pad
Post by: stek on April 12, 2006, 04:20:17 am
When I try to open a log-file e.g. mrt.log from Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool with win32pad (V1.5.9.1) I get a file with a black box between every character.
Does win32pad not support those file types? What file type is it then?
This happens sometimes with some registry key export files as well.
Will win32pad support those files in the future?

Hi Gena,

I have the same problem as  stek.
Win32Pad does not render the text of a .log file properly.
My work-around is to use MS NotePad as the default opener of log files.
Which is a pity because NotePad does not handle large files very well, which log files often are.
On the other hand,Win32Pad handles large text files very well.

Can you tell us why this is happening and if you have any plans to accomodate log files?

Thanks very much.

mrt.log is a Unicode encoded file (rather then just a "plain" text file).

Win32pad does not support Unicode.
