Program idee...

Hi!
I have used win32pad for some while now and from time to time used win32get. I wonder if it would be possible to come with an idee for an other program.
My idee (that is not new =) is to have a program check web pages for updates both as a whole file and parts of a file (eg from "download version" to "<br>" to get the versionnumber of a program). Of course it would be nice if a program like that could check for new files ever X minute. I have seen other programs that does similar things, but I would like have a program that does not use the registry or other folders (eg the user dir). The reason for this is that I tries to have all nice programs (eg win32pad) on an usb memory.

Hmm. there are a couple of things for this. the first that comes to mind are RSS feeds. (Yes, there is one for this site and it is being updated with the news items as they are posted) There are also POD files (XML) that are used by some sites to get the latest version information. And the last option is loading the HTML page and doing the parsing yourself using a bunch of filters.

Your comments, ideas on this.... I am still a bit unsure if I should implement this or not.

I missed the reply =)
It was the last option that I was thinking of. The advantage that that option has is that it does not depend on that the web page owner uses RSS or other things.
