I like a white font on a nice blue (#0080FF) background but trying to do this bring a serious problem.  The so tiny cursor remain gray and is not visible or at least very hard to locate on the screen.

Can you please add an option to get a block cursor or get the cursor color to match the font color.

Thank you.

I was very happy to see that the Search/Replace code was being rewritten. I have in the past requested a minor detail to be changed in that routine. Unfortunately this has not been changed.
I use win32pad a lot for search & replaces, to clean up html-code.
What I would dearly like is to have the focus returned to the searchwindow after you have done a previous search, so that you can either escape it away, or start a new search without reaching for your mouse.

Is this possible?

If you doing a search, you can close the search window, and hit F3

Yes, but the problem is that the searchwindow is not active, the main program is, so you have to take the mouse and activate the window.
I'd prefer to be able to hit escape to close it, or to Tab to the line I want and do a new search or replace.

Could you please add a "auto save" function to Win32Pad.
My computer crashed and I lost everything I wrote (quite a lot), I really hate MS sometimes.

About my request, will you tell everyone it's not possible?

I'm sure someone can help you to find a solution to this.

OK, thanks Gena01, if the app become too big because of this "auto save" function then you shouldn't do it, but otherwise, why not?  :D

Can you add a "Replace NotePad" option (Associate with Text Files in Windows Explorer) which enables us to open txt files with Win32Pad when double clicking a file in windows explorer?

It would be really nice if the start menu icons was copied into the %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Start Menu\Programs\Win32Pad-folder.

That way the program is easy accessible for all users on the system, and not restricted to the user who installed it.

Could we have more control over the font color?  I can't match my Windows text color because of the limited selection in Win32Pad.  Thanks.

You *could* change the win32pad.ini file.

My 2 cents...this is a functional notepad replacement, not a rich text editor. Don't add a ton of stuff that would slow it down and make it too bulky!

Anyhoo...I noticed the "different colored toolbar in Windows XP" issue has returned.

It doesn't affect the function, just the appearance.

Thank you for the awesome program...I use it every day!

1. Bug: (requires statusbar to reproduce): Cursor is shown in Statusbar when resizing window (Create/load text, move cursor to any visible line at the bottom and resize window so that statusbar gets over current cursor position)

2. What about a 'Use windows system colors' feature... don't want either to change color settings seperate

3. Hex-Editor support: User can define an external hexeditor if file is a binary file and launch this via shortcut (if defined)

4. Win32Pad supports large files up to system memory: great, but opening large files takes LOTS of time. As I use win32pad as default opening mode for unknown files this can nerv. Maybe you can add a question wheter to open or not, or hexeditor (see 3.; suggest if definded only, of course)

5. I would prefer a seperate menu (e.g. named 'Search...' for search/goto line/replace functions.

Hi

Do you consider using UPX compressing utility on Win32pad? It will make the .exe just 20 Kb. Get upx from upx.sourceforge.net

A suggestion for a Print Preview.

Looks good...
Slight problem with line-numbering and goto - they both consider word-wrapped lines to be new lines. Might be a bit tricky to work around, but in my opinion the correct behaviour would be to increment the line-number only for genuine line-breaks.

Weeble.

Just like to say Win32Pad is handy and very nice to have!

One feature I would love to see in future versions is a more advanced search/replace - I'm not sure what this would do the program size/performace.
I've often had to switch to Word to use the search/replace function in there were you can have it find line breaks and such.

Or even a regex search ? :)

Just some ideas for the future.

If you are using the setup file, it should associate win32pad with text files by default (unless you uncheck that box).

Ok, I might actually create a little poll to see what users think about the next release... The idea here is I could cut a release with the stuff that I know is fixed (backporting code from my latest development build) or finish up development and cut a big release.

What I do a lot in Win32Pad is writing text, but I don't use different txt files a lot, I just use one document to write my notes etc.
But when I want to separate these notes I always use:
-----------------------------------------------------
Can you perhaps put a button in the toolbar that automaticly will create such a separator?
Cause I have to copy and paste it now everytime, it's very annoying.

Bug report:
 Enter font changing dialog once.
Then Win32Pad would refuse to change its color, even if you don't change it for the first time.

As for suggestions - it'd be good to support macros and to remember last searched string(s?) just for a current session.

Thanks.

Another idea, why not add a feature which makes it possible to "bookmark" certain places in a textfile, so that when you click on it, it will go to that spot right away. Because sometimes I will have to search for a while in my files, very annoying.

Adding more "Files of type" to the File|Open and File|Save menu would be nice, right now you have:
Text Files (*.txt)

But how about:
HTML Files (*.htm, *.html)
Bat Files (*.bat, *.cmd)
etc. etc.

Thanks.
